Load SizeHardwood is more dense and heavier than softwood. On a year round basis, 80 cubic yards of hardwood material can be guaranteed to be legally within Department of Transportation weight limits. Sometimes when the weather is hot and/or dry we can legally carry up to 95 cubic yards per load. Those are only occasional circumstances though, so at Ever-Green the "best price" full semi-trailer load price is based on an 80 cubic yard load. An 80 cubic yard load of Playmate® Play Area Wood Chips® will cover about 2,850 square feet of area AFTER compaction of 12 percent. Be sure to call for information on how many cubic yards of Playmate® Play Area Wood Chips® it will take to cover any size area you choose of any depth you choose. For local market customers with smaller needs we offer convenient 22 cubic yard straight truck loads which will cover approximately 784 square feet, eight inches deep AFTER 12 percent compaction. If you are located a long distance from Cedar Rapids you will be better off if you can order in full semi loads, however, we will be price competitive on partial semi loads as well. Remember, it doesn't hurt to have a stockpile of extra material on hand for use in maintaining what you determine to be your proper depth.
